Stress is how your body reacts to changes or threats and is usually prompted by new events or situations that feel overwhelming or uncontrollable. Everyone is provoked by different conditions, and stress looks different for every person. For example, someone with social anxiety might get stressed at the thought of going to a party, while someone else might find the same task exciting. Concentrative meditation: this is when you focus all your attention on something very specific, so you can fully experience the moment. You can focus on a word, a phrase, a memory, or just your breath. 

Mindfulness meditation: this is a form of both stress reduction techniques and cognitive therapy. This form of meditation is useful when dealing with depression. The goal is to ground yourself in the present and make yourself open and accepting.


What is a Meditative Trance 

Some people might be convinced that meditation would not work for them, but meditation can work very effectively if you are willing to try. Meditation involves training your body to easily enter a state of focused consciousness. It might sound difficult or impossible if you’ve never experienced it, but the truth is your body is already familiar with going into trances. For example, that half continuous state right before you fall asleep is a natural trance we all go into every night before falling asleep. Or when you’re working on a project that absorbs all your attention, and you’re so focused that someone could easily sneak up on you.  Meditation is when you purposely try to go into that trance-like state to find peace and relaxation.

Sleep meditation is the form of being awake and asleep and is a state where your body is completely relaxed (like in sleep,) but you are completely aware.
